Description of our SWOT Analysis
Strengths:
Aramark’s main strength is their ability to provide personalization of quality service, food, and atmosphere to provide ultimate customer satisfaction. They want to serve their customers and the main way they do so is with the sales managers unique ability to concentrate on the customers main goal of the event. They have a wide variety of events available for customers to choose from, such as fundraisers or banquet dinners. Each client is important, so it is crucial to adapt to each and every event by having rapid response to customer demands and changes. It is important skill for the sales managers to exhibit flexibility for customers desire to implement changes to their order.
Weaknesses:
Since there is so much variability for each event, there is a lack of standardization for the ordering process. A strength and a weakness is that they are available 365 days of the year, 24/7, which creates a huge demand on the staff and kitchen and reduces quality output since someone can order an event at any time. They have a lot of waste from events, so they are not environmentally friendly due to continually changes from customers. The sales office has organizational issues due to process of recording changes and that they can be made at any time. Due to these frequent changes, there are sometimes a lack of communication between the various organizational systems such as sales office, kitchen, and the servers. The customer have the option to make edits to contracts can be implemented until the day of the event, which allows for confusion between different systems. There also is a lack of awareness due to little advertising to students outside of leadership positions in organizations on campus.
Opportunities:
There are a lot of opportunities available to James Madison University Special Events Catering because the expanding JMU student population, which increases the likelihood of more student organizations needing catering events. They have the ability to attract more external events outside the JMU community, such as weddings and alumni. Since they have little advertising awareness, they can increase advertising more on campus to encourage more organizations to be educated on different catering packages.
Threats:
The current state of the economy is very unstable, which means that organizations and individuals might not have the necessary budget to afford catering. Student organizations have limited funds, which could lower the amount of on campus catering events. There are also competing smaller event venues locations and cheaper products available for organizations.
